The fourth new passenger carriage has now entered service on the railway at Woody Bay.
Work on Woody bay Station’s new toilet block is now underway with the first important step - the footings, having now been dug and filled with concrete.
Over the past couple of seasons the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway has been taking part in the Devon Action scheme for teenagers, centred on engineering work carried out through our workshop facility.
Axe’s boiler was given its first steam test last week which it passed without fault.
The 2008 June Beer Festival weekend at Woody Bay Station, part of the North Devon Festival, made for an enjoyable and successful event.
The Lynton & Lynmouth Music Festival weekend organised by LLAMA was again a great success with it be hailed the best festival yet! This was the second year that Woody Bay Station has been included as part of the festival, with another 12 artists playing at the station over the two fun-packed days.
On Friday 23rd May, Axe’s boiler was collected from Israel Newton & Sons Ltd of Bradford. The boiler is now alongside the locomotive in the Gartell Workshop.
As from Wednesday 21st May the railway is open daily for the summer season. We have now teamed up with our good friends at Exmoor Zoo to offer reciprocal discounts on visitor entry.
The 10th & 11th May saw our Victorian Weekend and 110th anniversary. We were greeted on the weekend with some excellent sunny weather, and with it came a whole host of visitors in Victorian dress.
The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway’s AGMs was held at Lynton Town Hall on Saturday 17th May. All submitted Motions being approved, business concluded at 2:30 PM. Next years AGM is to be held in May at a date to be agreed.
