The Lynton & Barnstaple Railway was always known for its distinctive locomotives and carriages, all built to high standards.
Most of the original rolling stock was broken up when the line closed in 1935 and for the first nine years of our operation of the revived railway we used smaller and lighter locomotives and carriages. However, this was only a temporary measure until we were able to rebuild enough heritage rolling stock to accommodate sufficient passengers. Currently we have five rebuilt heritage carriages.
