New Year Services

Wrap up warm and enjoy a delightful festive steam train ride!

Looking for something to do with the family after the big day?  Why not treat yourself to a festive train ride and even a trip to our cozy tea room! We will be running our usual services throughout the day from the 28th of December to the 5th of January!

The Tearoom will be open every running day from 10:00 till 16:00, serving a range of light refreshments including hot & cold drinks, festive cakes, warm pasties and sausage rolls, etc.

Along with our Tearoom our Station Shop will be open with a range of gifts available to purchase. 

 

First Class Upgrade

Upgrade on the day and travel in style and comfort in one of our 1st class compartments. You can purchase your upgrade on the day from our Station shop. This available on a first come first serve basis and cannot be pre-booked.

£3.50 per person (valid for one return trip)

 

Dates

New Year Specials Dates: 28th, 29th, 30th, 31st December (New Year’s Eve), 1st of January (New Year’s Day), 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Please be aware we will be closed between the 25th – 27th of December.

 

Service Times

Train Times From Woody Bay Station to Killington Lane are as followed:

10.45am - 11.30 - 12.15 - 13.30 - 14.15 - 15.00.

2 mile return journey (approximately 20 minutes)

 

New Year Ticket Prices
  • Adults: £9.00
  • Student/Young Adult (aged 14-21 years or a valid student ID required): £7.00
  • Under 14’s:  Free of charge when accompanied by a fare paying adult.
  • Family (2 Adults & 3 young people): £30.00
  • First Class upgrade per person (available on the day): £3.50

We have a large free carpark available at Woody Bay Station, this includes disabled parking.

Prams

We regret that due to space constraints, pushchairs and buggies cannot be accommodated on trains, however there is space for them to be left at the station at the owners’ own risk.

Dogs 

We are a dog friendly railway,  well behaved dogs and their owners are more than welcome to attend our Santa Specials and New Year services. In addition, dogs travel FREE provided that their owners have purchased a ticket and other passengers do not object. We only ask that for reasons of hygiene dogs are not allowed in 1st Class compartments or on the seats in 3rd Class.

Christmas at The Old Station Inn

Enjoy 10% off your food bill (including our Christmas menu) at The Old Station Inn pub, when displaying valid Santa Special or New Year tickets for the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway!

Can’t wait till the 25th to enjoy a Christmas dinner, well the Old Station Inn has you covered with their Christmas Menu!  Adults can enjoy a three course meal (plus coffee) for £26.00 per person, whilst the kids can dine for just £11.50 per person!

Location: Situated in North Devon The Old Station Inn is located on the A39/A399 Junction at Blackmoor Gate. With only being 4 miles away from Woody Bay Station makes the perfect stop off after or before your visit.

Terms & Conditions

• Enjoy 10% off of  all food orders (Christmas menu included)! Valid between the 14th of December to the 5th of January. Please be aware the Christmas menu will only be available between the 14th to 28th of December (expect the 25th).

• This offer is available for customers who have purchased tickets for either a Santa Special or New year Service at the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway. Please ensure to display your ticket when placing your food order.

• The Old Station Inn is open everyday from 12(noon) with last food orders at 8pm. Please be aware we are closed all day Christmas Day.

• This offer cannot be used with any other discounts or offers.

Terms & Conditions for New Year Services

 

  • Tickets bought online are open tickets and can be redeemed on the day of your choosing. Your New Year ticket will be valid for a day of your choosing between the 28th of December and the 5th of January.
  • During busy periods you may have to wait for the next available train departure to get a seat. However we will ensure each ticket holder participates in at least one return journey.
  • We are unable to reserve seats, places will be available on a first come first served basis. 
  • Please be aware Santa and friends are not part of our New Year services, the children’s free gift will only be available leading up to Christmas. For further information please see our Santa Specials webpage.
  • In the event we need to cancel this special due to unforeseen circumstances for example adverse weather we will ensure to contact pre-booked passengers with options regarding their tickets.
  • Woody Bay Station will be open from 10:00- 16:00 each running day. Please ensure to check our timetable before travelling.
  • We will be closed between the 25th -27th of December.
