Over the weekend of 6th & 7th April, the L&B Surrey Group attended the Ashford Festival of Model Railways with our sales stand.
Attended by over 1000 during the two-day period it was a multi-venue event with over 60 exhibits and trains of all scales both retro and new, plus a photographic display.
Visitors had the chance to visit the Ashford Museum and old school which Charles Dickens had taught in. It took over 3 hours to see all the displays and, with a beer festival and music all for £10, it was really good value.
We would like to commend the organizers for their variety of exhibits and an early quiet time opening which featured Tracks Across the Spectrum aimed at connecting railways and autism, the charity the show was supporting.
The L&B stand was well supported and we have been invited to return, plus we had an invite to attend a further show at Chatham later in the year.
The Surrey Group is looking for new members to help promote the railway and anybody with model railway skills as we were asked to provide an associated layout at next year's Ashford show.
