Well what a show that was!
Over the weekend of the 20/21st July the Surrey Group attended the model railway show at the Chatham Historic Docks. The show was the first that the Chatham & District Model Railway Club had organised after a 6 year break and the first on their home territory for 12 years but you would never have guessed as it was so successful.
Our stand raised much interest and people were pleased to see on the map how much trackbed has been acquired, including all of the intermediate stops apart from Caffyns Halt. As conversations continued most members commented that they were pleased that the new board are planning to extend to Cricket Field Lane.
The secondhand books and recently donated 'O' Gauge tin plate models sold well and our own L&B book and Barry's 25th Anniversary of Chelfham raised interest with several of those copies being sold as well.
There were attendees from Belgium, Holland and Poland, the very busy show attracted railway enthusiasts as well as visitors to the Historic Chatham Docks. With the Medway Queen nearby at Gillingham Pier there was no shortage of must see attractions.
So, what next for Surrey Group? Well, after a short break we will be attending the Fifield Fun Day on Sunday 4th August.
