Chelfham Station Report Spring/Summer 2024

At Chelfham this year, the volunteers have continued to maintain the site, made progress on a variety of projects and showed off our work to a growing number of visitors on each open day....Wednesdays and Sundays.

On the Up platform, the recently restored bench seat is now located adjacent to the GENTS. Note the new lamp in original position on the front wall top edge.
During the month of June, National Highways have engaged contractors to fully survey the viaduct. The guys have had this welfare unit to use in between their periods of work on the viaduct. The survey has required them to abseil off the viaduct to inspect
Out of site from the station, and located below the down platform hedge are our work and store sheds. This position allows us to carry out various tasks to support everything at Chelfham.
Inside the station building, in the booking office, this new shelf of the signalling instruments for the sections to Bratton and Pilton has been installed.
