Conservation Matters.......
The woodland at Woody Bay has been enhanced following advice given by conservation officers from Devon Wildlife Trust in 2022. This will improve the biodiversity and habitats that the woodland provides.
The first task was to clear the excess bracken and brambles to open out the woodland floor. Pathways were upgraded and resurfaced using scalpings where necessary to improve access. Bug 'hotels' have been built and hedgehog boxes made (thank you Julian & Lindsey) and sited. Work is on-going to repair nesting boxes.
A shallow clean water pond, or scrape, has been created to enhance biodiversity and hopefully provide a 'stepping stone' for aquatic species.
A variety of tree species have been planted around the margins of the overflow car park including Cherry, Oak, Hornbeam and Rowan.
