Steam on the Moor Episode 6 - Dedicating Bagnall no. 2819

Published: 15th August, 2024

On Tuesday the dedication ceremony of Bagnall 2819 was held at Woody Bay station following its extensive overhaul.

In a short ceremony the engine was named Sir George Newnes by his great-nephew Christopher Newnes, in honour of the driving force behind the original Lynton & Barnstaple Railway.

The locomotive was then dedicated by the Reverend Miles Welborn, Rector of of the Lyn Valley Parishes, before taking the assembled VIPs, shareholders and visitors to Killington Lane.

The Trust wishes to thank the Bagnall 2819 Group, the Newnes Family and the Reverend Miles Welborn in the making of this film.
