Whistle up for Rail 200.

Next year is a big year for railways including us here at the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway as we celebrate Railway 200. Now you might be asking what is Railway 200, it’s set to be a nation wide celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of modern railways which originally began at the Stockton and Darlington Railway.

To launch this year long celebration ourselves and many other heritage railway will be taking part in the Heritage Railway Association’s Whistle up where all participants will be sounding off a whistle at 12 noon on January 1st.

Don’t forget tickets for our New Year Services are valid all day so you are welcome to take part in as many train services as you would like to for the day! Come see Sir George Newnes in action!
